De-Stress in 2016

Jim Calloway is the Director of the Oklahoma Bar Association's Management Assistance Program. He is also a law technology pioneer. He served as co-chair of ABA TECHSHOW 2005 and the first two GPSSF National Solo and Small Firm Conferences in 2006 and 2007. He writes and speaks frequently on legal technology issues, Internet research, law office management and organization and legal ethics. He is the author of Jim Calloway's Law Practice Tips Blogs, one of the first blogs period, and certainly one of the first focusing on legal technology. He is the co-host of The Digital Edge podcast series on the Legal Talk Network. If there was a lawyers' internet and technology hall of fame, Jim would be in it.

Jim has published Toward A Less Stressful Workplace in the latest issue of Law Practice Magazine. It is a great reminder that we need to be mindful of, and plan for the stress that is an inevitable product of our chosen profession. By Jim's own admission none of his tips are new. They are great reminders that are easily forgotten when we get busy.  For instance, in 2016 how about getting in the habit of meeting deadlines a day or two before they arrive?  How about abandoning the mentality that days off show weakness?  When you go on vacation, Go On Vacation! Stress is not to be ignored. It can be managed. That starts by acknowledging it.

Thanks for sharing this! It's definitely important that we learn to de-stress, especially in such a stressful field like law.
